How Z Got to Be Named Z

Many people have asked me some form of the question, "how did you convince Tania to name your son Zambrano?" Well, I sorta knew, but I asked Tania (the Conversation TiVo) to give me the definitive version of how we arrived at it.

We had been discussing names, and I suggested Shawon, for my favorite Cub, Shawon Dunston. Well, Tania doesn't like Shawon, Sean, Shaun, etc., and suggested "Dunston." This reminded me of a dumb monkey-Jason Alexander movie, Dunston Checks In, and I said no. I kiddingly suggested Zambrano, for Carlos Zambrano, a favorite of both of us, and Tania almost immediately said yes, and soon we had the boy's name.

Zammy wanted to see what this whole Cubs-Cardinal rivalry was all about, and since it was such a nice day, Zammy and his dad decided to let Mom get some rest, get her nails done, and just generally recharge her batteries. It was so sunny that Zammy didn't see much of the game from under that big white hat of his, though he sure heard the beer vendors.
